Outstanding zin, clearly one of the better wines we have recently had. Brought by neighborbill and had with Kim and a group of friends at the Gamekeeper restaurant outside of Blowing Rock NC for a good friend's early birthday dinner. Very smooth, well structured and balanced to the point of subtlety, very elegant and truly a finesse wine. No indication on the palate that this was 15.9% alcohol. Nose of dark cherry, cinnamon and some cloves with flavors of layered caramel, mocha, leather and late development of black pepper. Paired very well with game meat dinner and transition into dessert. Highly recommend this wine, too expensive and hard to get to be a good QPR.

International Wine & Food Festival (Washington D.C. - Ronald Reagan Building): Even though this is their signature zin I was more impressed with the earthquake. This had tons more minerality and herbal notes which definitely makes it stand out for a zin but not what I was looking for in this grape. The acidity level on this thing will be sure to keep away more then it will bring in.
