At first pretty closed. But after about 2 hours opening nicely into some taut and tangy citrus (lemon and orange) and reminiscent of kumquats. Still a bit tight and coiled. High acidity and curious to see if the fruit holds or deteriorates. Should wait at least two more years until my next one.

Medium yellow. Intense nose with stone fruit, apple, minerals, oak. High acidity that crecendos from medium beginning to really high finish in mouth. Has some rs to balance the acidity, almost full body. Reminds of some chardonnay from new world, but acidity is definitely in chenin blanc realm. Dangerously close to 4 stars.

Missing our friends, my wife Larissa and I are trying to make the best of the COVID-19 social distancing measures and are celebrating our evenings together. With that mindset, we opened this Chenin Blanc in memory of my recent wine tour to South Africa's Coastal Region with friends. That now seems to have been a long, long time ago…
Bright medium yellow-gold. Stone fruit, citrus, spicy oak and a mineral aspect, with well-integrated oak, fresh, lively acidity and good length of the grapefruit-bitter finish. Medium-bodied and quite balanced, yet still with some rough edges. A good, fresh Chenin Blanc that provided a lot of drinking pleasure despite of its youth and showed some potential to improve further with some age. 89+ for now, and I am already looking forward to opening another bottle in five or six years.

Bit more oak than in 2019. But those wines still have tears of life ahead of them
