39% merlot 16% cab franc 45% cab sav. took a sip every hour after decanting and 4 hrs were optimal for it to open up nicely and balanced, with freshness, smooth tannins and savory finishing. it did have a bit of the figeac character, yet i would easily be mistaken that it was a grand vin from medoc. the duration of airing made a big difference. so take your time.

At the Figeac Estate. Agreeable and a little fruity. No real need to wait in this, as it’s an easy going tag along for any casual dinner at (insert any medieval village in Dordogne). Plum and black cherry, with a soft insertion of currant and wood. Drink now and over the next 5+ years.

Second label by an excellent vineyard, this vintage stood out. Absolute fruit jam: raspberries, plum, blackberries, and blackcurrant. This one shows so much life beyond a heavy fruit structure, you’ve got a lot of oak, mineral, and graphite to back it up. Vanilla flavored cigar and pepper to follow it up - 65% Cabernet, 30% merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc - healthy tannins to balance this out.
Quite the production and well structured for a $50 price point. So dark in color, heavy on the nose, and a velvety finish to wrap up a great glass.
The only vintage of the second wine that was poured, dark plum nose, graphite, concentrated dark raspberry, nice and fruity, but a bit pedestrian and tastes like any other good Merlot blend at this price point (91).

Chateau Figeac masterclass: Five decades of a St-Emilion stalwart, from 1966 tp 2016 (67 Pall Mall London): Elegant. Light on its feet but with plenty of underlying intensity. Nice freshness. Great for drinking now
