Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): Hugely different from all the other Cailloux tasted tonight, and also very much my favourite of them. Red-fruited, perfumed, and delicate. This is what I'd imagine the wine would taste like, when it was first described to me. There's none of the dirty, leathery funk here. This is all just pure, perfumed red fruit. Balanced, with the structure proportionate to the rest of the wine.

A silky Syrah of great length that blossomed after a nice long decant. Aggressive right after the cork pull; notes of iron and game, the usual stuff you get from The Rocks. Night 2, wow. Fruit emerges. Femininity takes the dance floor. Just delightful.

Decanted for over 5 hours, knocked the Cayuse "nasty"off it. This was really damn good. One of the better Caysue I have had in past couple of years. still has the funk, but less than past vinatges and real nice dark fruits.

People who like high alcohol fruit bombs should avoid this wine. A pop and pour but immediately put my glass away for an hour. Time rewards those that wait. This does give the appearance of low alcohol but i think it’s pretty medium. This wine was cofermented with Viognier from the same vineyard and possesses that rocking cool climate syrah that reminds me of a ringer for rostaing cote rotie! A gorgeous note of bacon fat and bbq give way to dominant reds and black fruit with notes of just about anything you can mention in a red wine. Really delicious to drink.

Such a great wine. This is right where a good Syrah should be: not heavy, great flavor and brightness.
