I decanted into a medium decanter and tried a glass one hour later. At one hour it tasted great- integrated tannins, dark fruit, leather, chocolate, soy, balsamic- the little VA it had upon opening had blown off. I had dinner and came back to it at hour 3, but sadly it was much less interesting with primarily weak secondary savory type flavors. This bottle was tasting very mature- probably past peak. I would recommend a quick 30 minute decant and then consume within 3 hours. The weak vintage really shows.

Decanted for ~8 hours and consumed over the next 3-4 hours. Uber-classic aromas of dried cherry fruit, licorice, balsamico, dried flowers and old leather. Fruit on the palate is lighter and the overall impression is a fully mature Barbaresco. Still has some fine, grippy tannin that work well, particularly with food. Even though the weight and concentration are on the lighter side, there is good intensity of flavor. Quite nice. Should hold, but no reason to wait.

Very satisfying classic barbaresco! Earth and floral notes on the nose, along with some tar. Palate is leathery, acidic, with dark cherries, and still some pretty significant tannins giving a bite at the finish. Still lively, though I suspect this is around its peak, so drink up if you have any.

A remarkable bottle. The nose is full of fresh cut greens and grass with an underlayment of a dark leathery note. Not like a usual barbaresco. The palate is a combo of dark nebbiolo fruit and bright juicy fruit. While there is a an entire undercurrent of classic dark nebbiolo, earthy, tobacco, there is also this series of bright notes that are on top. Most unusual and delicious.
