  • Still a bit tight but the structure and fruit are all there. Drink now if like them big and tight but wait a couple years for perfect integration.

  • Consumed alongside a 16 Ponente. This was second up. Incredible how different this is. This wine has a nose of underripe black cherry, plums, and iodine. Some green olive too. Entry is blackberry, red and black licorice, oregano. Not much in the way of blue fruit at all. Middle started out a bit flat. But after an hour in decanter, this one blossomed to a black licorice and blackberry pie. Finish is soft, surprisingly round yet a tiny bit more abrupt than the 2016 Ponente. Lighter, yet darker than its 16 Ponente counterpart. These wines are so cool. I'd experience one of these with a 3-4 hour decant and lock the rest away until 2025.
