I'm a fan of Lafage wines but had never seen/had a white until a friend opened this Centenaire on Friday. WOW. This is Mae West in a bottle: not fat (13% abv) but hefty and sexy at the same time with excellent fruit and concentration. White peach, yellow apple, orange blossom, honey and lemon zest combine on the palate with perfect acidity and a long, purring finish. This girl knows what she's doing!

For me both the Languedoc and Roussillon offer some of the greatest value wines in the world and Domaine Lafage is one of my favourite producers operating out of this part of France. Centenaire consistently delivers in each vintage and 2018 is no different. Dominated by old-vine (some 100+ yrs) Grenache blanc along with a dollop of Rousanne, it strikes a great balance between ripe, fragrant fruit and mineral freshness. White peach and apricot rise from the glass along with orange blossom, a touch of honey and lemon zest. Texturally it's gorgeous with very good acidity and poise. The finish is quite short and simplistic but you can't argue given the price point. I'm going to purchase a few more bottles before it disappears.
