One year later and once again, a beautiful bottle. An excellent mature champagne, very unctuous and Rich in profile. Still good effervescence. Years left, but certainly at its pinnacle and my opinion, in terms of structure, and profile

Lizzie St Supper Club (Lizzie St, London): A wine we have had a good dozen times over the last decade ( Papies 92-94) and dare we say this our last bottle was the best we have ever had. Easily WOTN of our dinner and ever so surprised by how fresh and energetic it still is. Soft smoky edge from the oak in its elevage, bright mineral , soft richness and just enough of a secondary side to add to the complexity . Impressive and this has another decade of life we felt.95-96

almost no atmospheres of pressure left (cork BARELY expanded on opening) had on xmas eve. Sarahs birthyear bottle. so sentimental bonus point given. Aged notes with cheese notes surprisingly mono-dimensional with almonds predominant: but surprising dearth of butter/toast notes. less surprisingly no primary fruit beyond a shadow of green apple / stoney citrus.
Im not too well versed in vintage Champagnes but I’d say Drink up!

Drank from own cellar, BYOB at La Cagouille, Paris. Could not be more different than last bottle. Fairly oxidative with quasi copper colour and mirabelle plum dominating the nose. I would be struggling to pick this up blind as a BdB. Drinkable but not representative of a properly-aged version of this

(Charles Heidsieck Champagne Blanc des Millénaires) Light lemon yellow color with tiny bubbles; very appealing, yeasty, toasty, baked lemon nose; rich, toasty, yeasty, baked lemon, mineral palate; long finish
(Charles Heidsieck Champagne Blanc des Millénaires) Light medium yellow color with few tiny bubbles; very appealing, lemon, maturing, light mushroom nose; tasty, rich but poised, tart lemon, mineral, dried mushroom palate; medium-plus finish
(Charles Heidsieck Blanc De Millenaire) COLOR-golden; NOSE (w/ no decant)-a quick blast of marzipan; a cinnamon toast crunch cereal aspect; some dried fruits; PALATE (w/ no decant)-sliced fresh golden apples dominate; a chalk dust minerality; NOSE (w/ 60' decant)-much more aromatic; more caramel & brown sugar components; PALATE (w/ 60' decant)-the bubbles are considerably softer; substantially more rounded and integrated; baked apple pie w/ caramel and brown sugar; NOSE (w/ 90' decant)-even more pronounced, but the difference from no decant to 60 minute decant was more pronounced; PALATE (w/ 90' decant)-there are clearly still bubbles; apples and bread like before, but one thing I'm picking up for the first time is a substantial lemon peel component; WS-95; GV-No Score
(Charles Heidsieck Champagne Blanc des Millénaires) Light yellow color; yeasty white flower, honeysuckle and peach nose; rich, big, very tart grapefruit and pear palate with good stuffing and zesty, refreshing acidity that gave it an edge over the '93 BdM in the same flight; medium finish 95+ pts.
(CHARLES HEIDSIECK BLANC DE MILLENAIRE) #3; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-beautiful golden; NOSE-tighter, little grapefruit, dried toast, little hazelnut; TASTE-nice sour pear coming through, but it completely disappears ("Caspar Syndrome"), a lack of finish, shocking for such a good producer; WS-95; GV-88
(Charles Heidsieck Champagne Blanc des Millénaires) Group's #4 (my #4) – 81 pts; 2, 3, 1, 0 – chalky, tangy, citrus nose, that becomes savory after 45 minutes in the glass; refreshing, with good acidity, structure and mineral edges; medium finish

Came across as a tad weak without the body I expected. Might be my palate for the day though - having stressed around in the kitchen for a good 7h...
