Powerful and focused, but very worked. This bparticular bottle displayed far more charred oak note than previously noted, and I found that It slightly overwhelmed the balance. On a positive note, the fruit is impeccable, the acid offers great clarity, and the finish is long.

Worked and reliant on sulfates, the wine still co,es across as an outstanding example of Hawkes Bay Chardonnay. The fruit quality is excellent, and the wine making intervention does not disguise the bright, concentrated and focused nature of the raw material.

Ripe stone fruits, some toast and oak, fresh acidity, smooth texture, medium bodied with vanilla and creamy finish. disappointed to little impact Sur Lie does, compare to cellar selection tier, no obvious lift up on density and richness, though it’s still a nice Chardonnay.

Ageing very well. This particular bottle felt more supple, but still very much influenced by the Lees and oak handling. Excellent.

Great complexity from the lees, Smokey oak, mealy fruit. Classy and delicious.
