This wine has a great reputation and is relatively rare. There is cured meat, black pepper, bitter sweet chocolate and blackberry on the nose...and after being decanted for some time it is all about the cappuccino, I get bit time cappucino on the nose! The palate is letting me down, maybe it is passed it's prime. The midpalate falls short with timid tannins on the tip of the tongue and quite short lived acidity. The texture on the palate is quite thick and I do detect some of that black berry, black currant and black chocolate with some leathery notes but it's all a little muted underneath the weight of the wine to be honest. I also notice that the fruit is a touch jammy and dominates any of the other subtleties in the wine. Tasted with TH.
