Visiting London, Galway, Dublin and Paris; 9/14/2019-9/29/2019 (England, Ireland and France): Limpid and light golden in color, Laurence Race's 2017 Chablis offers pear and pit fruit aromas and flavors, accented with notes of saline and wet stones. Light-bodied, unoaked and without noticeable alcohol (12.5%), it has decent mid-palate presence but lacks the acidic verve that would be expected of a Chardonnay from this appellation. This lack of vibrancy carries out to the somewhat clipped finish. While not unpleasant, this Chablis is simply unexciting...and accordingly unmemorable. Drink now-2022.
