A really interesting comparison with the 2010 Breaky Bottom Cuvée Koizumi Yakumo drunk a few days before. That 100% Seyval Blanc, this 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, 10% Pinot Meunier. The 2009 Wiston is very correct, even austere and needs more time I'd say. the 2010 Breaky Bottom the more enjoyable drink now. 89 for the Wiston but I'd expect that to improve.

The 09 Cuvèe offers a beautiful picture of Wiston Estate. The 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier blend almost replicates the Estate's single vineyard proportions. One third of the fruit is fermented in old and new Burgundy oak barrels, with 8g/L dosàge and 7 years on lees. Above all, it speaks of the quality of the 11 man team at Wiston. And of their drive for purity and excellence.
It's a sensuous English Sparkling Wine. From the cool platinum flecks. To the enchanting nose of white chocolate, creamy camembert, almonds and fresh apple blossom. The mousse is fine, softly rounded and ouzing creamy white chocolate. A linear, chalky, red apple laced drive leads into a bright, lingering olio of yellow apple, brioche, almonds and lemon sherbet. Such an intricate and veracious wine that echoes its place and people so well.
Drink 2018-2021. £32.95 direct from @WistonEstate. A Wozza 95/100 (4.2/5.0) from me.

This was excellent, the best Wiston we’ve had to date. Crisp green apple, some citrus. Delicious.
