60-300 year old vines grown on volcanic rocky soils on slopes and cliffs sourced from 15 different family vineyards. Some of the varieties are unknown, but the blend includes Listan Blanco, Albillo Criollo, Marmajuelo, Gual, and Malvasia. Wild yeasts. Some skin contact. Some time on lees in steel and used barrels for about 8 months. Minimal sulfur added. The color is light orange, which surprised me since I didn’t know this had any skin contact. The nose shows a bit of spicy, leafiness that comes from skin contact and cidery oxidative notes, but there’s also minerally salnity. However, the nose then opens up to rather intense fruity and floral notes. The palate shows good acidity (but less so than the La Santa de Ursula red tasted next to it) and is medium-bodied (actually more body than the La Santa Ursula). It’s more salty and minerally on the palate than on the nose. Still kinda cold, so it should open up even more. Overall, an impressive white with a lot going on. 93+

Very cool and interesting wine. Subtle reduction initially, definitely get the salinity noted by others, under ripe citrus, and some grip on the finish.

Terrific wine chosen to pair with a white bean/chicken chili. Oxidized, sour lemon, apple cider, with a soft smooth mouthfeel. Distinctive and fun.

By far the white WOTN for our Iberian tasting. Salty, minerally, long, complex -- just outstanding.
