  Slightly dull garnet rim, velvety smooth in the mouth, starting to dry on the finish. Plum and spice still showing, but acidity coming through. Drink up.

  Perfectly proportioned and well-structured and crafted, this was savoury, fresh and muscular. The black fruits were infused with a little smoke and spice. The tannins were nicely judged and fully resolved and I believe this is now drinking at its peak. With an excellent length of finish, this, for the money, was a real bargain. CHP 92 pts

  Ripe black cherry fruit elevated by a pleasing streak of acidity and salinity and beefed up with a little spice. Oak treatment has added sweet tobacco and vanilla but also produced a silken texture. Fully integrated it broadens out nicely with a lingering flourish. Altogether complex, satisfying and classy. CHP 92 pts

  Unfortunately, this was badly contaminated by cork taint, but behind the TCA this still had fruit, a velvety texture and an agreeable length of finish. I have a bottle of this in stock, so I’ll retaste it over the weekend and offer a better verdict. I also briefly looked at the reviews on Cellar Tracker and this is not the first bottle reported as corked. There was clearly a quality control issue for that year. CHP 0 pts

  Last bottle of case. Drinking very well and has the structure to last sone time but won’t develop further.
  
  Medium garnet. Dried cassis and plum fruit, raisins, alongside the oak (chocolate, coffee, vanilla) and tertiary aromas of smoke, spice, leather, tobacco leaf. Fully developed. Ripe, fine tannins perfectly integrated, the finish is long.
