Solid effort by Turkish giants Kavaklidere. A well composed blend that comes right of the bat with aromas of newly sharpened lead pencil, mint leaves, marsipan and dried cherries. When decanted half an hour, the aromas gets balanced and I find myself sniffing away for pure enjoyment, something I seldom would do with Turkish wine. On the palate, we get vibrant tannins from the Bogazkere grapes, moving forward with plump blackberries and dark, ripe cherries. It ends bit abruptly, but it does so with a dash of toasted black pepper. This drinks great now, but I am curious what five more years in a tempered celler might give?
