From 09-19-19, barrel 371, Rick 37, 93 Proof. A nice sippin’ whiskey but not much more than that. Here’s the conundrum with Blanton’s. It’s an excellent bourbon for those who are new to the spirit because it is so easy drinking and lacking in complexity and oak impact. How many people who are new to bourbon are going to shell out $100-$300 on a starter bourbon? These are said to be aged 6 to 8 years but I would say it’s probably closer to 5-6. I honestly have to say that packaging, marketing, and scarcity are driving the sales here and not necessarily what’s in the bottle. Eagle Rare is a much better choice for new drinkers in my opinion and can be had in the Northeast for around $35/bottle.
