  • Drank over two nights, with and without food. Dark maroon color with medium legs. On the first night the nose shows a lot of white pepper and candied cherries; by the second night a lot of the freshness fades leaving very noticeable oak in the place of fruit. The initial palate is very full-bodied with dark berry fruit, fine-grained tannins and hints of warm soil, good depth. By the second night the palate (like the nose) has lost a step or two - less energy, more thick, slow and plodding. There's good length to the finish, but the palate gets a little muddled on the end. There was just enough acidity that it made a good food wine, but there's also enough stuffing that it can be enjoyed by itself as well.

  • Expedition Wines American Homegrown: nose: good rich nose of dark berries, plums, smoke tones and bits of earth. Well balanced and nice laid back aromatics

taste: smooth feel with very pronounced acidity at this time with tones of dark berries, black cherries, and earthen tones

overall: the acidity is a bit much at this time and holds back some of the potential on this right now. With a bit more downtime this should emerge as a real good value
