  갈라트로나 영빈이 괜찮아서 위클리에서 보이자마자 사놨던 와인.
  결론부터 말하자면 역시나 괜찮긴 했지만 다른 빈티지에 비해 유독 점수가 낮은 이유가 있긴 했다.
  그럼에도 불구하고 이태리 메를로가 점점 더 궁금해지는 와인.
  
  코에서는 젖산 발효의 향이 희미하게나마 피어오른다.
  이걸 좋게 얘기하면 오크의 뉘앙스같긴 한데 강하지는 않다.
  과실향이 나긴 하는데 검은 과실향이 지배적이라 과일같은 느낌이 강하지는 않다.
  
  입에서는 아주 좋게 이야기하면 잘 풀려서 부드럽고, 나쁘게 말하면 코어가 약한 편이다.
  산도가 거의 없어 아마 무난하게 블라인드를 했으면 무난하게 보르도 와인으로 틀린 것 같다.
  말하고나니 괜찮게 만든 보르도 와인의 느낌은 있는데, 너무 부드럽다보니 아쉬움이 조금 더 남는다.

  This has long been one of my favorite Italian wines but this bottle was disappointing. Lacked fruit and left a bitter taste in my mouth. Am really hoping that the other vintages I have will be much better.

This was opened up around 7pm the night before, 50ml removed for a tasting (not corked), recorked 4-5 hrs later, then slow oxed until 7pm the next night. It was FAN-freaking-tastic. On a table that was significantly polarized between California Merlot and French Merlot, this Galatrona split the difference between the two and did so quite beautifully. Drink or age 15ish years.

  Dark fruits, tobacco, wet earth. Shallow on the mid palate and on the short side on the finish. All of the above relative to the price point. Probably a great wine (it’s actually still quite youthful at 8 years of age) and just going through an awkward/shut down phase.
