  • Very much red fruited and wide open for business. There are delicious pomegranate and raspberry fruits. It has plenty of floral spice and there is something cool and stony lurking. It is silky, mid-weight and beautifully balanced.

  • Drinking Some Great Mugnier as an Hommage to Becky Wasserman (Republique - Los Angeles CA): In 99/01/02/05 vertical, followed by the same vintages of Musigny. The only bottle of the vertical that we decanted (thankfully). Easily the biggest and most ripe of the vertical, but somewhat candied fruit that is not yet showing Chambolle elegance. So much here, but just teasing us tonight. "92 point" wine tonight, 94+ point potential, 2025 forward? Better yet, 2030 forward.

  • It’s Christi’s BD party and the host opened 4 btls of amoureuses EACH from Groffier and JFM! All Groffier’s were 2009 vintage but JFM had 98’ 05’ 06’and ‘08. Among the shining JFM, Groffiers disappointment was unavoidable. JFM was a pure clean crystal ruby jewelry, which showed the reason to drink with a lover, even her diamond ring would be shy away when tossing the glasses in the candle light. The nose was humble dry roses in the forest. Juicy mouth feel, silky palate but tight structure for all those vintages we served. I got some spicy after taste of burning wood, peppers and somehow the unforgettable bitterness fooled me around for the night. Yes, it reminded me some girls that we all had some great moments but we would never be together… For the vintage preferences, I picked up 05’, 08’, 98’ and 06’ as 96, 95, 93 and 93 respectively.

  • Beautiful nose but clearly too young. Very drinkable now as the tannins are soft with plenty of bright fruit. This will definitely benefit with another 5 years of age.

  • The wine was followed for several hours and had a nice development throughout the evening. More primary, somewhat clearer wood from the start. More integrated over time.

Wonderful charming power with the most delicious perfumed raspberries, orange peel, summer roses, steam from summer wet grass, baking powder and exotic, slightly sweet spice varieties create ultimate joy. Pretty full-bodied and extremely charming and delicate wine. Lovely red-purple fruit, cask spices and some mint. Nicely salty. The wine develops throughout the evening and also acquires a more umami character, against mushrooms. Also some leather belt. Long complex and fresh finish. The wine has the strength og the vintage and wood is clearly more prominent here than in recent vintages. But it suits the vintage well. This is a wine that has come 1/3 in its life. Just put it back in the wooden box and push it further back in the cellar. Need time, but still - fabolous wine! 96 points.
