My WOTN. Such a standout CdP that combines elegance with the excitement of garrigue, smoke, licorice. Unquestionably in the start of its peak drinking window and worthy of opening now. I believe our magnum was not decanted in advance, and it sang from the rafter tops.

La Tablee: Bonneau retrospective (Mercerie): Interesting wine. We had all of the 2014s and it was something to compare across. I'm not sure I was as taken with the Celestins. The floral here was almost overpowering. Hand soap on steroids. Very different from the other wines. This was the first vintage that wasn't all Henri and perhaps there was some learning to it.
Tasted blind. I immediately called it CDP, but called it '01 Beaucastel Homage JP. Very good, but still very young. Much different than the Rayas tasted earlier in the night.

Same bottle as Nutty08, tasted blind. deep ruby color, no haziness, kind of a raisined nose with some lacquer. A bit of metallic Brett. Deeply pitched dark fruits. High alcohol with a syrupy quality on the palate and chewy tannins. This felt like the fruit was picked late for the vintage, and reminded me of a high quality amarone. Although it made sense with the reveal. Singular wine.
