  • From the owners of acclaimed Giscours, this Undisclosed Bordeaux blend from the left bank Margaux region of Bordeaux, 13.5% ABV, not mevushal. Appearance was a medium to deep garnet with moderate to heavy viscosity. The wine was closed after several hours of decanting, but opened up after 24+ hours of decanting. Nose was medium intensity, rich fruits and warm spices, cassis, blackberry brambles, blueberries, and sugar plum, menthol, potting soil, pencil shavings, baking spices, cloves, and vanilla. On the palate, it is medium bodied, polished and clean, restrained fruit, silky mouth coating tannins and a touch of acidity, a finesse wine akin to more typical Bordeauxs. Black currants, plum sauce, soy sauce, mushrooms, loamy dirt, bay leaves, graphite, tobacco, dark roast coffee, cedar, and dill. Finish is long and smooth, very polished, with notes of saline, nuts and Dutch cocoa. This bottle seemed fairly dormant so I will likely not open another bottle for several years. Nevertheless, it is still apparent that this is a great, elegant Bordeaux, very similar in style to Giscours, to be thoroughly enjoyed. 93-94.
