  • Smooth, fuller bodied Beaujolais. Dry and slightly peppery

  • Intriguing layered high toned red fruit, sweet raspberry preserve tempered by wet earth. The pallet more one dimensional but with refreshing balanced acidity and some chalk. This is not trying to be grand cru, its a moreish table wine with positive bottle development since last tasted. very good value. 89 with +1 for value

  • I'm generally more into more full bodied reds, BUT do like this, especially on day 2.
Day 1 was nice but didn't LOVE it. It was pretty dry, the fruit didn't really come out so much. More menthol and violet heavy. The fruit was more red cherry and redcurrant - so more acidic and drier.

Day 2 was much fruitier. Strong strawberry notes which didn't come out AT ALL on day 1. Serious transformation. Has turned me onto Beaujolais when I was not really into it before.

I will caveat that I chilled it before day 2, whereas it was already very cool to the touch when I purchased and opened it on day 1 and I didn't put it in the fridge before opening it.
Maybe it was the chilling, maybe it was the time, maybe both. Would buy again.

  • medium ruby. on the nose the wine has medium intensity aromas of red cherries, kirsch, violets, raspberries, simple. On the palette, the wine is dry with med (+) acidity, medium fine ripe tannins, medium alcohol, medium body. The flavor intensity on the palate is med + with red cherries, kirsch, violets, raspberries, simple. The finish is medium + with red cherries. The wine is good demonstrating medium intensity on the nose rising to medium + on the palate. The wine is balanced with the medium + acidity balanced by the fruit nature, alcohol and tannins. The wine lack complexity and the finish while medium + is simple. The wine is ready to drink now, would not age further. The primary fruits are fresh and the wine is a nice every night wine.

  • 2/8 update: pulled this to make room because the 2019 seemed superior. Pleasantly surprised - this had prune and other dried fruit on day 1 and improved further on days 2-3. Bumped original rating by 1pt.

Previously tasted 2015 and 2017 vintages (2019), with the 2015 perhaps being just over the hill with still enjoyable fruit and soft tannins. The 2018 was youthful and fruity like a typical Beaujolais-Villages on day 1, then went through a closed phase on Day 2, finally opening up again on Day 3. Can drink now but we will likely hold for 1-3 years.

Day 1: Grilled cheese, tomato soup, and raspberries. Light purple-red, youthful, ripe fruit aroma. Strawberry shortcake, plums, and little tannin. After sitting, dark cherry, prune, more pinot-like.

Day 2: Open-faced Turkey burger (seasoned with Feta and oregano, forgot the buffalo sauce). Entered a closed phase. Hints of acetone. Gradually opened up. Drink quickly or let this sit and breathe?

Day 3: Soy chorizo pasta with artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, parmesan cheese, onions, and mushrooms. Opened up more. Red and black fruits, Maraschino cherry, wild strawberries, good acidity, soft tannins notable, especially after this warmed.
