held its own remarkably well over 7 years. The Phelps Viognier is one of the great happy wines; perfect on a warm day, starter or pre dinner. I could drink it like water.

Even though this wine was fermented and aged in two- to three- year old French oak, it still comes across as a bit overoaked to me. The presence of oak seems to dull the otherwise nice aromas of vanilla custard and canned peaches. The palate matches the nose in this very weighty wine, and finishes with a refreshing hint of lemon. But overall, a bit too ripe for what I like to see in viognier and a bit too much heat. In the end, it comes across as a decent but amateurish effort.

Past it's peak now. OK floral notes but the whole was a bit off-putting....

Light floral and fruit flavors were dominated by an unpleasant finish. It seemed green, almost bitter at times.
