Appearance: Bright and clear, it is light ruby in color, with wide fading rim and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of red fruit of plum, ripe cherry and ripe raspberry, oak notes of vanilla, dried fruit of prune, maturity notes of truffle and savory, pungent spice of licorice, floral notes of violet. The wine is fully developed. Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium tannin of ripe and fully integrated texture, medium alcohol, medium body and medium intensity flavors of red fruit of plum and cherry, dried fruit of prune, maturity notes of truffle, sweet spice of clove. The wine has a medium finish. Conclusion: Very good quality Chambertin with an intense nose showing highly complex characters, the wine is fully developed, with good maturity notes but also got having freshness and fruity notes, it is a wonderful stage with elegance and finesse, demonstrating the evolution to its fullness. The reasonably concentrated palate has also a nice finish. It is ready to drink now and not intend for further ageing.

By contrast to the 1990 Remy Latricieres drunk a day before, the 1993 Chambertin is larger and darker, but man is it a soaring and delicious wine. No sous bois on the nose, just pure Chambertin fruit, with a hint of sweet iron, dark red fruit, and a hint of maturity. There is a beautiful explosion of fine pinot fruit on the entry, the tannins are mostly mature, but the wine has plenty of backbone. Red fruit, iron, large but well within the margins.
