Aromatics of wet earth, leather, musty stewed red fruits. Very Bordeaux like aromas. The color was dark The expectation was a concentrated, fleshy wine but that was not the case.
The mouth was thin and insipid, belying the promise of the aromatics. The wine was hollow. If the grapes had hung longer, reached a higher degree of alcohol, this may have been a great wine.

Crimson in color. 13.6% ABV. Brooding nose of black fruits, espresso and flowers. Medium to full bodied with perfect acidity. Dark, savory and well balanced. Black cherry, blackberry, barbecued meats and pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Old school Syrah that is equal parts power and finesse. Best over the next 3-5 years.

Continues to drink well, and my scoring continues to rise. Better on 2nd day. Some nice Rhone-like confer forest elements have joined since last tasted a year or two ago. Acidity no longer overwhelms. Good juice and a great price.

Medium bodied, traditional mountain style. Decant. Then decant longer. Tight, acidic, and backwards but then unfurls into a bright berry mountain Syrah with dry earth, cacao, tart berries, and fresh ground herbs. Better with food, as it cuts through. Drink with decant, or hold. 90-91
Day 2 edit - held together well overnight, bulletproof even. Acidity feels as if it's on the moon, but more bright than tart (as you may get with acidic natty/glou-glou wines).

It opened quite confused. Green, moss, fruit, tang, grip all presented in disjointed fashion. It was all over the place. But it settled into a nice velvet mouthfeel and the elements merged after about an hour in the glass. Lesson learned - decant this one. Held up well on day two.
