  • Limited production, small lot, Chardonnay handcrafted in their boutique winery. Guide mentioned this wine was aged in older oak barrels, hence did not have a lot of 'oakiness.' Daughter (art history major) picked up this bottle after sampling on a guided tour of the Hess Winery and Art Collection in Napa Valley.

Served @ 13c/55f with seafood. Pale, clear straw yellow in the glass. Nice honeyed citrus and floral notes on the nose, with alcohol notes (14.8% abv). Delicately flavored palate with distinct hints of melon and honeydew. Light-bodied and lightly-oaked (more a chablis-style; that is, rarely oaked) with low acidity. Short, but pleasant finish. Rounded feel in the mouth, but lacks that buttery, full-mouth feel of fuller-bodied Chardonnays; i.e more of crispness and refreshing qualities. Very nice wine.
