Moderately intense transparent ruby. Fragrant, showing cherry, smoke, earth, olive—a pinot dreaming of Côte Rotie? Because S = GC Sommerberg = granitic soils. There's a vegetal streak. Dry, with elevated acidity, gentle tannins, ripe but not sweet cherry fruit, and a savory, even saline finish. Medium-bodied, 13°. Not pretty, but lots of personality.

Almost a bit Californian in the woody toasty and cola nut character. But also lovely red fruit. Very nice

Very elegant, vertical, medium bodied, balanced, a chalky side here, you feel Sommerberg (at least, I think I do); a top wine in the genre.

Alsace BYO (@ Erik): Clean and pure fruit and a touch of wood smoke. Has a little bit sweetness and it is perhaps a bit short in the aftertaste.
