Tasting/drinking time (Library, Kent Street): Ripe blackcurrant, minty herbaceous notes, sweet spice, cedar, touch of alcohol prickle on the nose. Medium plus intensity acidity, splash of ripe black fruit, chewy grape and wood tannins are drying but the fruit persists, quite concentrated. A sharp contrast to the SP68 - clean, well made, perhaps a little dull? but nothing wrong here. I'm guessing about 3 decades under screwcap will lend some complexity if it doesn't dry out.
Very dark red. Minty and green olive on the nose - slightly brooding and restrained. Cool mintiness on the palate, with big-ish tannins. Still quite closed, but evolved beautifully over the next couple of days. Very good indeed.
Wine Society Blind Tasting: North vs South. My guess was Aus Cabernet Sauvignon - that's 2/2 on the reds :-)
Big, powerful nose with red fruits, cassis and a minty, herby character. On the palate it's big, bold and quite ripe with grippy tannins and lots of ripe black fruits. Packed with flavour but doesn't feel over the top. Maybe a touch of alcohol on the finish.

d'Arenberg with Chester Osborn (Strand Cellars, Croydon): Pyrazine over blackcurrant, cedar, cream, plenty of spice, meaty, savoury. medium plus intensity acidity, plenty of savoury and peppery spice, slight concentrated red over black fruits, the pyrazine shows itself as a touch of green capsicum. Medium plus intensity tannins are chewy and chalky , drying but persist long <shrugs>
