  • 30-minute double decant. Deep magenta color. Tart cherry, blueberry, cinnamon, earthy raspberry, fig, and minerality. Smooth, dry, tart palate. Very soft, almost non-existent, tannins on the medium short finish.

Interesting wine. Received from Maggie Harrison’s “The Collective” wine club. This is very Pinot-esque in mostly bad ways. Very tart and light bodied.

  • A private dinner (Restaurant Mont Blanc, Amsterdam, NL): From the Côteau de Cévins, a south-facing terraced slope on mica-schist soils, 60% Persan en 40% Mondeuse Noire, whole bunch fermentation, 18 months in older wood, 11% ABV. Wonderful fruit definition, hint of reduction recedes quickly, forest floor, spices and flowers, natural and relaxed, soft and silky, pure and minerally, juicy and flowing, delicate but intense, roasted beef, sandy tannins, peppery and salty finish. Such elegance and precision, Like a Chambolle-Musigny from the Côte Brune, except that it's from Savoie...
