13% alcohol. Car 35%, S 30%, G 25%, Mrvd 10%. Good long dense cork. The colour is light. Pretty reduced on opening, and the eggy aspect (fresh eggs mercifully) persists for most of the meal. Going beyond that, there are pleasant if generalised aromas of red berries. The taste is much better, with a commendable delicacy and excellent acidity; redcurrant dominates. A terrible match for our cheeseboard; in particular a not so ripe Langres destroyed the wine comprehensively. I am left unconvinced by this wine, granted that I probably did not give it the best chance to shine, but even on its own afterwards it seemed somewhat weak kneed and unfocussed to me. Not a repeat purchase, especially in view of the price. It seems to me that Terrasse d'Elise and Gros-Tollot (for instance) are much more successful with their old Carignan.
