  • Side-by-side with the 1989. Both showing the house style. The 83 has an effusive and inviting nose of mature plum fruits laced with tobacco leaf, bell pepper and cedar. Palate is medium bodied and seamless. Late peak.

  • PnP. 100% agree with the recent reviews here. This wine is tasting great and an amazing buy at $99. Slight brett funk was worrisome at first but quickly blew off. Cassis and leather on the nose. On the palate, more red fruits than black - but very present, which was a pleasant surprise. Tannins fully integrated and make for a great mouthfeel. Long herbal finish. Splendid. Wish I had more as I expect this has at least another 5 years of life in it.

  • Like my previous bottles, this is excellent. Top shoulder fill, this was popped and poured on evening one, with the remainder of the bottle consumed the next night. Best on day 1, so I don't suggest decanting. Vibrant dark ruby color with no signs of bricking. Stunning classic claret nose of leather, cassis and a bit of graphite, accented by red currant and tobacco flavors. Youthful, medium- to full-bodied, rich mouthfeel with nice acidity and a slightly chewy finish.

  • My second bottle in 2 days, this was just as good as the first. Despite being located so far north in a vintage that excelled in the south (Margaux), this is an outstanding example from the vintage. Still quite youthful, with no bricking and a lovely cassis nose accented by floral and savory herbal notes. Medium- to full-bodied with tannins that are pretty resolved and a long berry and cedar finish. Really excellent.

  • Fantastic! I thik it probably can still last another 4-5 years. Bold, lots of berries and wild-herb flavors, hard to describe, but all in the subtle side. It got to its best around after 45m of decanted, I was worried in the beginning that it was going to go in the wrong direction after opening, but it really opened a lot.
