Friday at the strand (Strand Cellars, Croydon): Served blind. Whole berry jubiness, alcohol warmth is quite intrusive on the nose, quite jammy fruit, hard to get past the alcohol, there is some olive and liquorice. On the palate the alcohol is fairly full on as well, chalky tannins dry things out, the fruit proves quite savoury here, olive and liquorice. I guessed Australian trying for Rhone style from a warm vintage 2018

At a recent en primeur tasting. Lovely nose, medium weight, good all round, very long finish.
