This is OK shiraz. On opening it's a bit thin and acidic, but with 30 minutes air (no decant) it's a bit better balanced. The nose is a little hot (it's 14%, which for me, being old school, is quite high), with notes of the dark fruit. But there's no heat on the palate, with flavours of black cherries, a hint of tart raspberries, a splash of acidity and nice tannins, which linger in the finish.
It's a perfectly drinkable everyday shiraz. Good for a BBQ or a pizza. OK QPR at ~$US12.
EDIT (I really should wait to post these notes) This continues to evolve rather well with air. Maybe 75 minutes after opening the palate has a little complexity: dark fruits more to the fore, maybe notes of cocoa, and a chewy finish that is rather to my taste. I've bumped this up a couple of points, and I will decant my next bottle.
