  • Raisins and heat. Some coffee comes into play. Some candy. Burnt sugar. Have a lot left. BRB.

Day 5: Had a glass day 2 but nothing had happened. But today it has. More balanced. Getting some stout vibes! True! Getting closer to 90 for sure.

Day 10: Today it´s just raisins. Best day 5. Will not buy again but won´t be unhappy if someone is pouring me some.

  • First time with a vino cotto for me.
This wine pours a deep brown color. The nose is wide open right away. Showing impressive depth and complexity with green grapes, raisin, fresh lemon, bergamot, something floral, fig, brown spice, toasted nuts, resin and a touch of balsamic VA.

Fully sweet initially but that is offset by a tremendous piercing acidity that makes the wine feel almost completely dry on the finish. Great intensity to the flavors that mirrors the nose very well. Surprisingly airy mouthfeel for a sweet wine but I guess that is the acidity that really lifts this wine. Very long layer-upon-layer finish.

I'm impressed. I do find parallels with Sercial Madeira but this is a bit sweeter but it has that floral component and an acidity that cuts like a razor. I would say that this is ready to enjoy right away but will probably have a long life thanks to its acidity.
