There was some rain in 2018 in Gevrey, and in general, soil with clay did retain water in Gevrey so the wines in this village overall did very well in 2018. This wine is very impressive, with its complex scents of red fruits and spices, followed by intense red fruited flavours swarming in concentrated waves over a terrific backbone of tannins, which are very present but they are really fine and not dry, there is an enormous density and sap in the mid palate, the whole ending in a chalky finish that goes on and on...the finish is spectacular, and the young wine has not closed off. This is all what I am looking for in a Burgundy, this is magical Burgundy in the making. Great intensity and great refinement, and many many years of life ahead.

Quite dense and concentrated aromas with classic tones over hints of smoke, wonderfully perfumed tone and this dense redberry fruit that is really fresh for the vintage. Good full-bodied and distinctive wine that ignites the cylinders right away and shouts classic Burgundy with this surprisingly beautiful red berry touch that shouts freshness and joy against somewhat greener spices and cool perfume. Long, dense finish with good acidity and tannin structure. This will need a long cellar time. Great wine. 94 points.

Airy palate with serious presence. Very strong showing. Especially at the going rate.
