Full bodied Pinot, earthy with sweet, nearly jammy notes, frankly a bit too much for me. Most probably some additional years will help to better integrate the overwhelming fruit.

I have such consistently good luck with recent-vintage Gouges. This is deep and earthy with fine structure. Concentrated for the level and not overblown. Very solid NSG Villages.

87++ Too jammy at this point. Heaty, full body. Medium acidity. There are some complexity in the primary noses, oak and earthiness overwhelmed by the heaty fruits however. Surely this needs long time, or if you intend to open this now serve this below 16c.

Haven’t had a Gouges wine for a long time because I didn’t like the house style back in the 1990s. Well either my tastes have changed or the winemaking is better or the vintages are just better, but I really liked this. Very young and full of explosive cherry tastes, this also has some nice earthiness and a little spice to it. Has some typical NSG grip and strong acidity. Another great 2018 villages level Burg with some aging potential for me! Score: 91-92. Relative to expectations: ++

Cassis, dark fruit in general, muted bouquet, somewhat flat nose overall. Jammy, ripe center. Rustic finish. Better on the second day.
