  • dsg 07/2019. 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir

Nose with an oxidative character, with roasted nuts, hazelnut, apple and orange. Beautiful complexity which jostles a little but which remains harmonious.

If the nose appears to be evolved, the mouth is particularly fresh. The dichotomy between the 2 elements is quite atypical but is no less interesting. The floral, citrus, orange and chalk flavors jostle here too, it's a little fiery but very racy. Very nice vinous touch which dominates on a saline bed. The acidity is lively but the creamy texture of the wine helps to soften it (dosage of 3g) and then leaves with flavors of spices and ginger. This wine is complex, the flavors jostle a little because it is full of energy. Great finish where the spice mixes with the salty and chalky character, giving a beautiful lingering length.

Excellent champagne, which should gain a little more serenity in my opinion and therefore be expected for a few years?

  • Two and a half years since my previous note. The extra post-disgorgement ageing has yielded a beautifully harmonious wine, vinous and elegant, but at the expense of the precision and sheer excitement I experienced last time. At this stage excellent rather than truly outstanding.

  • Consumed over several nights. Golden yellow color and aggressive mousse on day 1, calms down but still present day 2. Honey and floral, slightly oxidative nuttiness on the nose. Sharp citrus lemon/orange on the palate, mineral, chalk. Excellent and punches above its weight.

  • This is just a wonderful and really great champagne at the "original price" around €90. It's been creeping up a bit which I find sad as it is entering a price range where competition is really rough... But Bérêche has a lot of other amazing offerings that cost quite a bit less!

50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, disgorged July 2019 with 3 g/l dosage. Aggressive mousse with small bubbles and an almost orange/copper tint to the color.

Nose was quite powerful with a lot of weight to it. Brioche, churned butter, roasted nuts but a backbone of red apple, orange, citrus zest and brief hint of red berries.

The palate had a whole other direction than the nose and was much more focused on freshness and minerality. Green apple with some red skin, orange, lemon, lime zest, white flowers, chalk, brioche, oxidative and some ginger spices. The acidity is very high and sharp yet the wine has this creamy and dense texture with so a lot of weight to it that balances it all out beautifully.

For me this was definitely still opened too early, but I needed a special bottle for celebration. I would personally wait at least 1-2 years more before I would revisit this.

  • Nice bright, crisp, well-defined with a little apple skin, sourness but good depth. BB xmas party
