Deep golden in color. Loads of butterscotch, but little else. Acid is missing, making the wine a bit flabby. Back label says it will "age gracefully for years to come." I think I tested that claim to the extreme. Will be interesting to see how it transforms as it warms slightly.

Pale golden yellow, vary faint apple/pear aroma dominated by minerality, on the palate the apple/pear fruit was explosive, very dense and smooth, a it of lemon, nice overall balance, finish was lengthy (1 minute +). We drink these River Block chardonnays often over several vintages and this 2005 has matured perfectly and is in great condition. Seems to be at a peak now.

Super mature nose ruined any remaining virtue. Nonetheless, golden hue (appropriate for the age) and saline, sweet flinty citrus palate remained. Just too long in the tooth to be enjoyable.

Really pleasant drinking at this time. Wife does not like it, too, acidic and she thought some oxidation.
