  • Ramonet Bienvenue Batard-Montrachet 1990.
    Helt kjørt dessverre.

  • Glad I waited to open this bottle. It has all the good oxidative notes with that hint of freshness that feels almost mint-like. It was just magnificent and I’m looking forward to more of this.

  • DRC @ WS: Surprise entry at the last minute. This had it all, incredible nose, complex and fully developed palate, ripe and luxurious with a solid spine of acidity. White fruits and flowers on the nose and finish for days. This is why we age white Burg!

  • From a good looking C&E bottle, this wine had a deep yellow/light gold center with clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose put forth custard, white stone, lemon, and apples.

This wine improved for a couple hours in a decanter. It started out quite rich but quickly developed intense acidity and fantastic minerality. The length was very impressive.

This bottle was absolutely nails. While certainly at a peak, it should last at this level for 5 years or so. This wine has proved to be a bit variable. However, when it is on it is hard to beat.

  • This wine had a deep gold/yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose put forth light cider, citrus, almond paste, white stone, and some oxidation.

In the mouth, this wine had great richness, great acidity, and great length. However, as suggested in the nose, this wine was showing some oxidative notes that detracted from the aforementioned stunning positives.

As may be apparent, I love old white Burgs but this wine being past it’s best was a shocker. A recent bottle of the 86 was in much better shape. I would be looking to drink this ASAP unless my next bottle showed dramatically better longevity.
