Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • The confluence of the vintage and the wine were perhaps a little tough, but overall we liked this. The oak was there but somehow was integrated decently tho it did just barely cross the line into an Islay maltiness which for me is the death nell. But it so skirted the line, and mostly kept in bounds, surprisingly so. Certainly a rugged Nuits, and combined with the vintage a fairly no holds barred Burg. Rough enough to stand up next to a Rhone or Bordeaux.

What's my point here? I'm trying to figure that out myself. Mostly, that it is an oaky wine, a precursor to the moderne, but still managed to stay its own thing, be enjoyable, be a wine, and give pleasure. And for that we are thankful.

But, not sure I'd want to drink it all that often.
