  • Charles' 70s themed Karaoke Birthday Bash (Waterloo Street, Singapore): The nose was very toasted peanut brittle like (which I did not really like – more oak influence than I would normally prefer), along with a whiff of bygone and very german minerality – all wet slate on the nose (this I liked). Underlying all that though was a rich seam of earth, truffles, ripe cherries and a perfumy fragrance. Morgun noted that this was rather richer than the Louis Latour Beaune 1er Cru on the nose. Palate was quite expressive and rather classy, with plush, sappy cherry fruits riding on a bed of minerals, clean acid and slightly dry, woody tannins (especially towards the finish). A little heat aside, I thought that the wine had a very decent balance indeed.
