Light body. Nice balance and complexity. Very nice acidic zip and depth. Drinking beautifully now although it would benefit from more age as it is still somewhat closed.

The Leflaive/Lafon/Coche with Uncle Jake (Sushi Katori): Served alongside the 2015 Poruzots but only popped and poured before serving. Another approachable bottle as the vintage suggests but much tighter out of the gate. On the opening, Nashi pear, yellow apples, lilies and jasmine with meursault typicity on the palate with heft and richness. Typical Lafon precision showing here with incredible balance. Compared to the 2015, this was much more tightly coiled today but the underlying tension and fruit signifies great potential and would definitely need more time, at least 5 years is what I think!

Very precise and taut, with a massive amount of energy. There is a tightly coiled Meursault richness that gives this weight and interest that goes way beyond merely elegant and mineral-driven white burgs of lesser pedigree. Everything somehow feels integrated and well-balanced. This is an absolute stunner today, but the underlying energy here suggests it’s got the potential for meaningful upside with more age.

Still closed on the nose. Still youthful. Notes of lemon, green apple, grapefruits.

I continue to feel this is a standout in Lafon's 2018 lineup.
