Old school with dark red fruit, lots of earthiness and some bret hints but not in a bad way. Got much cleaner with air and settled into a nice balance. The old vine complexity is evident and this could easily be a dead ringer for a CNDP. May be fun to insert into a blind tasting :o).

Tasted blind. Dark berries, some leather notes, and a hint of green flavors on the nose. Medium+ acidity and quite structured tannins with red berries and cherries on the palate. Very nice finish. The nose reminded me much of a Syrah with a bit of age on it, but the palate was much brighter. Interesting wine.

Been a few years since I had one of these, fun to see how it has developed. Still quite dark, not quite opaque, showing deep strawberry garnet color. This wine had a tendency toward showing brett, but has been stored perfectly at 55 degrees. There’s a bit of roasted mushroom earthiness, but it’s relatively clean on the nose. Palate is still quite youthful and fresh, a mix of blackberry fruit with a bright raspberry streak, excellent acidity, some lightly chalky tannins. The electric/volcanic note I remember is still there, but faded into the background. A fascinating wine starting to reach maturity, but with years to go.

Dark crimson violet color, no sign of brett on the nose, which this wine can show. Every time I open one of these I'm sorry I have one less, so much great intensity, energy, deep red/purple fruit, with strong volcanic notes, violets, spice, still very youthful, with good acidity and medium fine tannins. Glad to have several more to continue following into the future.

(Clot de l'Oum Côtes du Roussillon Villages Caramany Saint Bart Vieilles Vignes) Dark red violet color; brett, earthy, garrigue, tobacco nose; brett, tobacco, light pepper, mineral palate, like a maturing St. Joseph; medium-plus finish
