  • Prior bottle was 18 moths ago and this wine continues to impress. Pear, lemon and white peach on the nose. Medium bodied with white apple and white pear continuing to make up the initial impressions. White peach with white tropical behind continues to be the mid-body. Acidity, lemon and other citrus through the finish. The tart notes and acidity are much more in balance than previously. No more greenfruit notes and the balance between fruit and structure is noticeably better. Next bottle for me, Q1 2024.

  • Big, rich and tropical. This seems to have picked up weight over the years, deep gold color that looks like a late harvest. But it's not, it's a decidedly not a typical FLX thing, just a great unctuous oily white. I like it a lot.l and have been drinking it for years and I buy this wine from Forge every year. They've never made a Leidenfrost this rich since 2017, but it is good every year.

  • Prior bottle was just over 7 months ago and the wine remains in a very good drinking window. Pear, white peach and lemon continue to be the dominant notes on the nose. Medium bodied (12.5% ABV) with white pear upfront with slightly rounder white apple behind. Starts to open up through the middle, showing white peach an some background tropical hints. Acidity, lemon and other tart citrus notes provide the structure and contrast. Almost pushes the wine into the greenfruit spectrum but what this tell me is this wine still has room to improve. It is white pear-peach dominant with a lemon backdrop and I'll expect improved integration with time. I'll plan to open my next bottle in Fall 2022.

  • Prior bottle was 15 months ago and my notes were quite consistent. Lemon, pear and white peach on the nose. Medium bodied with white apple and white peach upfront. Gains density through the mid-body as the white peach opens up some and also adds pear and tart mango. Backside and through the finish continue to show tart orange, lemon and other mixed citrus qualities and very good acidity. As I'd hoped, the acidity and fruit are continuing to come into balance while the wine overall remains quite dry. Rather than being overall dependent on its tart notes and acidity, it's becoming more complete as the fruit gains expression. Should continue to evolve along these lines and I'll open my next bottle in Fall 2021.
