  • bought en premier and kept safe until now
Popped and it seemed ready to go
The rim is still clear and the core is ruby. A soft barnyard aroma blew away leaving mint and cedar smells
The tannins seemed soft and this seemed light and refreshing with relatively lucid fruit leaning towards cherry. It went well with a roasted chicken and seemed to gain weight over 2 hours.
    Not wow but deeply satisfying

  • Splash decant. Classic left bank with a ton of tannin (esp after sipping some aged burgundy). Would have liked more resolution. Enjoyable if relatively straightforward. Nice touch of mint. Masculine and probably best to decant for hours and drink in the medium term - 2027.

  • 23082023 - Impromptu lunch with the usuals. My bottle. Nice claret with plenty if fruit and limestone minerality - but slightly short on the finish. Best to drink it now

  • Some years since my last bottle. Tannins still assertive. Nose is more tertiary, although those aspects haven't yet fully developed on the palate which is lithe and cool. The finish had lost its lactic aspect and had become far more mineralic. Delightful. Just taking a peek into its drinking window. More to come.

  • Bordeaux/Bordeaux blend theme over lunch at Asia Grand. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl 1855. Called by me as a 2006 Graves/Pessac-Leognan.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of toasty oak, dark red plums, grilled ripe bell peppers. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with aromas of dark red plums, dark red cherries, red berries, blackberries, integrated toasty oak with sweet spices, ripe bell peppers. Long juicy finish with senses of structure.
Very good quality. Rather elegant Left Bank Bordeaux starting to drink well already. More towards the redder fruit spectrum.
66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot.
