  • Massively tannic for the first 4+ hours of decanting. Better on the second day, but delicious. Great, prominent fruit, as is the case for other wines from this producer. Honestly, probably shouldn't drink this for 5-10 years.

  • By the glass. The beast unleashed, both on the nose (Chinese ink, plums, stick liquorice, cocoa) and on the palate (gigantic structure, unapproachable tannins, endless density, total imbalance). Let us recognize that there are still people who appreciate this as the quintessence of California. All for them. Doggie food.

  • Amazing and yet very young... took some time to open up. Delicious flavor. Was best on day 2 & 3. Will definitely soften and evolve over time.

  • Decanted the wine for an hour. Enjoyed over the next hour and a half with friends. The color is magnificent. The nose of very dark cherries, prunes and saddle leather is wonderful. The structure is good, but not quite as bold as I had anticipated. Tannins eased quite a bit perhaps from the decanting. The finish was nice, but disappointingly short. I was expecting a bigger wine, especially at this price point, that would most likely need more cellar time.
