Community Tasting Notes (9) Avg Score: 87.8 points

  • Nice, enjoyable, though short of thrilling. Less perfumed nose than I expected, but plenty of white stone fruit & melon are there with just a little fresh floral tone. Little bit of greenness, sort of dandelion-y hints throughout. Med+ body, decent acid, well put together for an easy drinker.

  • ABV: 14.5%. A very young wine. Textbook nose of Viognier with honeysuckle, minerality, and a little hint of white pepper. Very weighty on the palate with lots of acidity and hints of ripe stone fruits (think peaches and nectarines). Solid finish, but I'm afraid that I've opened this bottle way too early because it's definitely not ready yet.

2/12/2023 - Raised the score by three points (from 90 to 93). 24 hours after opening, the nose is expressing more of that honeysuckle fragrance. The acidity is much more integrated compared to yesterday, but it still needs more time to integrate. Everything's still intact on the mid-palate and finish. It'd probably show really well right now with some fatty cuisine to cut the acidity. I think this wine has some potential, but it'll require some more time for the acidity to integrate. If I were you, I'd keep your bottle in the cellar until the 10-year mark (2028).

2/14/2023 - Raised the score by two more points (from 93 to 95). Completely forgot that I about 1/3 of the bottle remaining in the fridge so I pour myself a glass to see if it's still alive. WOW ... the nose is now an explosion of honey nectar and super ripe stone fruits with a hint of beeswax. The acidity has now integrated very well with the wine and each sip is just like biting into a juicy fruit. This is basically drinking like a baby Condrieu so I'd definitely keep this until the 10-year mark before opening so it can be fully appreciated. Cheers.

  • Over two days.

Typical of variety in place, albeit in the heavier style.

Decidedly best on the first day, featuring beeswax and intriguing mushroom and other sous-bois like elements. The wine wore its alcohol quite well too.

More noticeable alcohol and less nuance on the second day. The wine's heaviness, it seemed, took over and it had begun to fall apart. Given the style and this experience, recommend drinking over the next year or two. 88-89.
