This is a truly hearty and rich Pinot. If you still have this vintage, drink it now. It opened up perfectly after about 30 minutes. Lots of cherry and hints of chocolate with a long finish.

Day 1: 88 points. Beautiful deep red cherry nose. Loads of red cherry on the palate with a smooth texture and alcohol is tame despite the 14.5%. A bit of spice, not overly oaked. This is a bit better and more elegant that I remember with the prior bottle. Not overly complex, otherwise this may be a 90 pointer with the gorgeous cherry attack that is not "artificially" sweet or jammy. One of the better Carneros PNs I have had in a while. Will be interesting to see how it is Day 2. Didn't get any chocolate overtones this time around on Day 1. Day 2: Even better, 89 pts. A bit more complexity of smoke and spice came forward. Nice. Borderline 90.

Nice texture and overall a pretty solid wine. Good balance of sweet fruit with some earth and spice, but overall not overly interesting. Maybe a touch of chocolate adds complexity, but this falls into the decent but not great PNs that Carneros often seems to produce. Decent value at the $19 I paid, but at $35 retail, I would avoid.
