After a two hour slow ox this wine was ready to go. The nose was all fruit. The palate was dark cherry, red plums, currants and mocha. The finish, as with all Saxums, goes on and on and on.

First wine we had in 2024. Nose of herbal mint, crushed red berries of strawberry and fox berry. Loamy tilled soil leads to mouthwatering palate of ripe strawberries and black pepper. Minerals and herbs lead to a balanced tannic and spicy finish.
Opened at the end after dinner. Grassl Cru stem. Dark purple color. Nose of wet earth and beef blood with dark fruit. Shows some VA elements too. Herbal spice notes. On the intro, this shows dark black fruits with spice notes. Exhibits that VA element as well as dusty tannins. Shows a little bit of heat on the finish. Dark brooding wine. Saved 1/3rd under vacuvin and refrigeration. Tasted two days later. Undrinkable. The VA was more prominent.
I will mark this flawed. [NB: I usually do not find the high alcohol levels in Saxum wines to show any heat; they are typically nicely balanced, albeit on the richer side. This bottle showed heat and VA.]

Mildly corked.
Granted, I'm hyper sensitive, but still...disappointing.

Delivers Saxum richness, power and balance. Drinking very well now.
