  • Slightly different take on this bottle, which I followed for 2 days open. The first couple of glasses again reminded me of a Burgundy, but this time Pinot Noir, perhaps adulterated with some Mourvedre. After a day, it is much more feral and complex, including what I would describe as a slight cruciferous element that could possibly be a flaw to some. But in this wide world of wine, one person's flaw is another's key to enjoyment and, in this case, I'm okay with the funk. The light and easy tannins and juicy acidity make it very food friendly.. I think this is great with smoked meats, various bean dishes, and cheeses.
The comparison and similarities to Burgundy have me thinking that some extra complexity is still down the line in a few years. I might re-up, if available. One of the more interesting wines I've had this year.

  • In agreement with others here, particularly Cabfrancophile's note mentioning Gamay. The palate is very fresh and lighter bodied, yet still has a mellow smoothness that is Burgundy-esque. Color is a slightly tawny ruby, about 60% saturated with no sediment. So easy to drink and just lovely overall.
    Kickin' butt, Larry.

  • Popped and poured. Some light violet floral on the nose. Light ruby color. Raspberries. Sour cherry. A bit of spice. Very nice.

  • Delicious, has a very Gamay-like impression--woodsy, herbal, with ripe cherry. Balanced on the palate, full bodied, round, low oak, concentrated but not extracted, finished with light tannins and a fresh 'twiggy' finish. Delicious, not at all tired and should keep drinking well for several years.

  • Lighter-weighted red. Red fruits (strawberry, faint cherry), unidentifiable green herbs (oregano? marjoram?), no oak. This would be great served with a bit of a chill on a hot summer day.

Drink now or hold for a couple of years.
